Mr Bakhshayesh’s work encompasses elective foot and ankle surgery, complex injuries, sports-related problems and limb reconstruction.
He is a Consultant Major Trauma at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. His NHS work includes major trauma and complex fracture surgery, with elective foot and ankle surgery at Chapel Allerton Hospital.
His private practice is at Huddersfield Private Hospital, where he sees patients with a broad range of foot and ankle conditions and problems following injury.
Training across three countries
After graduating from Shiraz Medical School, Mr Bakhshayesh undertook his orthopaedic training in Sweden. He has completed fellowships and specialist training in Sweden, Germany and the UK, drawing on experience across several areas of orthopaedics.
His Birmingham fellowships with Professor Keith Porter covered knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery and limb reconstruction. On returning to Sweden, his practice at Vasteras Central Hospital combined complex fracture surgery with foot and ankle surgery, and he led the foot and ankle service.
He later completed a fellowship in pelvic, acetabular and hip surgery at Imperial College and a post-CCT fellowship in limb reconstruction and foot and ankle surgery at the Royal London Hospital.
Research and education
Mr Bakhshayesh completed his PhD at Karolinska Institute on the clinical and radiological aspects of traumatic pelvic ring injuries. As an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds, his academic interests include trauma, return to activity, medical statistics and 3D research.
